Join us December 16th from 1-3 p.m. to explore fashion design! This field trip will take us to Abbey Glass’ studio, where top local fashion designer Abbey Glass creates fresh takes on classic tailored clothing for women.
Abbey will give us a tour of her studio and help us understand what fashion designers do by sharing her story, process, and advice. We’ll even get a chance to get hands-on and try this kind of design on for size. By the end of this field trip, you’ll have a good sense of what fashion designers do and how to start pursuing a career in fashion design.
Abbey Glass is an Atlanta native and tour-de-force. Before graduating from Rhode Island School of Design with a degree in Apparel Design, Abbey had the opportunity to work under Marc Jacobs and Francisco Costa at Calvin Klein Collection. She was a finalist in the Supima Design Competition runway show at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in September 2012, which kickstarted her career.
Abbey and her team now work out of a Buckhead-based studio complete with a full service atelier and boutique-style showroom. The brand's first flagship store opened in 2017 in Atlanta's Ponce City Market!
We will meet at Abbey’s Buckhead studio located at 690 Miami Circle NE #800 Atlanta, GA 30324 at 1 p.m. There is plenty of free parking around the venue. We will have directional signage to help you find your way.
This event costs $15 for non-members and $10 for MODA members.
This field trip is part of MODA’s Design Jam series which offers teen designers the opportunity to explore a wide range of design fields at top local studios, speak to designers leading their fields, and participate in hands-on activities.
MODA’s Teen Jam aims to support the designers of tomorrow as they explore and grow in the first steps of their careers. We’re focusing on hosting field trips, but will host a wide range of events and programming.
