Family Free Day: Paper Lanterns + Hour of Code

The second Sunday of every month is Family Free Day at the Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA). Join us Sunday, January 8 and participate in Lanterns Over ATL.

We want new ways to light up the skies, Atlanta!

We're celebrating the last days of our two current exhibitions, Beautiful Users: Designing for People, and On You: Wearing Technology with an activity that explores not only what is innovative, but what is also functional. This Family Free Day, we'll be making paper lanterns using materials from MODA's design cart, i.e. paper, scissors, tape, etc. Test out the functionality of your lantern with MODA's coin cell batteries and LEDs. Can you think of other sources of light to make your lantern glow?

After your trip to MODA, take your lantern down to Centennial Olympic Park and check out the Southeast's first ever Chinese Lantern Festival, ending January 15.

But wait, there's more!

Join MODA for another Hour of Code this Family Free Day, January 8. We had so much fun this past December that we're bringing back some coding fun in January. We'll have a coding station set up in the MODA lobby with MODA educators ready to collaborate with you and your family.

Participate in Family Free Day at no cost, but please register in advance so we know how many people to expect.
